san Francisco CONVENT

One of the first convents of the Order of Friars Minor founding in Portugal. With a typical Manueline portico, in the chapter room and facing the cloister, it has a great visual impact: open in perfect round arch, profusely decorated continuously, covered by traditional Manueline style themes.

MONTEJUNTO MOUNTAIN

A member of the Montejunto-Estrela System, the Mountain is the highest natural viewpoint in Extremadura. Rich in algae, caves, residual ponds, necropolis and prehistoric fossils, at its top is the Royal Ice Factory, classified in 1997 as a National Monument. It was from there that, for 120 years, blocks of ice came out to refresh the court and, later, the most chic cafes in Lisbon.

DAMIÃO DE GOES MUSEUM AND THE VICTIMS OF THE INQUISITION

In a building of the former Church of Santa Maria da Várzea, in the historic center, the Museum relates the history of the Jews directly to the former Church of Várzea. It also relates Damião Góis's connection with the Church as one of the most notable victims of the Inquisition.

alenquer castle - door of conceição ​

A fortress with great strategic value in defending the right bank of the Tagus River during the Middle Ages, when Muslims dominated the territory. The Conceição Gate was one of the main gates of the village wall, reconstituted in 1940 by the Directorate General of National Monuments and is today the most preserved space of the entire ancient wall.

WINE TOURISM​

In the Alenquer area, where there is a growing heritage that has gained national and international prestige for its vineyards, wineries and farms are a reference point, such as Quinta Santos Lima, Quinta de Monte D'Oiro, Quinta da Chocapalha, Quinta do Carneiro, Quinta do Convento da Visitação.
